The Mat-Su Borough School District joined the New Visions Arts Initiative last year; the first phase of our participation was putting together an arts action team, made up of teachers and community members, whose work will be crafting a vision for arts educations in the district.

The next phase of our work is gathering feedback about what an ideal arts education would look like from the perspectives of different stakeholders in our communities. We want to hear from teachers, students, families, artists, and community members about what’s working well, where our gaps are, and how a robust arts education benefits the broader Mat-Su Borough community.

Members of the Arts Action Team will be in Talkeetna on Wednesday, October 28 in the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar to host an informal community gathering where we’ll chat about the work we’re doing and provide opportunities for the community to share their perspectives on a range of questions related to arts educations.  Light refreshments will be provided. We hope that you will join us!
