This summer, the Denali Arts Council is offering daily and weekly programs designed to educate visitors and community members on artful aspects of the unique history and geography of Talkeetna Alaska. These programs provide an engaging and educational experience for the entire family. There will be blackout days for private events and community performances. The Don Sheldon Story  – 1pm Daily                      Don Sheldon  was a famous Alaskan bush pilot who pioneered the technique of glacier landings on Denali (formerly Mt. McKinley). Enjoy the 28-minute documentary film Glacier Pilot Don Sheldon, Denali’s High Altitude Hero. This film will be shown daily at 1pm in the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, which once served as the home of Don’s Talkeetna Air Service.  Admission is $5 per person and $15 per family. Proceeds from admission support the upkeep and operations of the historic Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.  There will be blackout days for private events and community performances. Talkeetna Trails – 2pm Weekly, every Tuesday. This program is Free! Join local artist, Sarah Opfer on Tuesdays from 2pm to 3pm. Sarah will guide you through a brief exploration of the local flora and rocks found along Talkeetna Trails. Following this informative session, she will assist you in creating your own beautiful resin pendant using natural elements from the area. This hands-on workshop blends art with nature, providing a unique opportunity to connect with the local environment and create a personal keepsake. This program is held outside under a shelter. Auroras – 3pm Daily  Witness the beauty of the night sky during the endless daylight of the Alaskan summer, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Auroras by Aurora Dora takes you on a magical journey, showcasing the Aurora Borealis across the Alaskan skies. This non-narrative time-lapse film presents the Northern Lights dancing to music and is composed of over 48,000 still images photographed in Southcentral Alaska, between Talkeetna and Denali State Park. The cost for this film is $5 per person and $15 per family.
